What's for Dinner?

Fun Stuff

October 25, 2003

Delicious oriental chicken salad, provided by our host, the Blue Rock Shoot. Tina Allen hosted (she totally cracks me up! and I love her mom and aunt Janice!) and I saw many of the same performers I've had the privilege to work with all week: Sharman Baciagalupi, Dan Edwards, Malcolm Grissom, Slappy Babb and Sandy Stec. Also got to work with Anatoly Brantvein, Jonathan Dippert and George Corrigan. And there were a few new faces too. Not too much of an audience -- they sort of came and went -- but they were very kind and generous.

What did I have for dinner? I might not have had any. But I know I didn't have beer either. I would have remembered that. What I do remember is an awesome event called "United Way Comedy Review" which was sponsored by the San Jose Mercury News and was a fundraiser for -- you guessed it -- the United Way. Thanks to Bernie Sinsay for organizing the event and inviting me to perform. It was an awesome line up that I was proud to be part of, including Dan Edwards, Ross Turner, Michael Riley, Slappy Babb, Sandy Stec, and others. Too bad I left early in pain (pinched nerve). They say that from pain springs comedy. We'll see. Nothing feels much like springing these days.

A vegetarian burrito at Beale Street Bar and Grill. Forgot I had signed up for that gig. Thank goodness Bob and Tim reminded me. The guitar player who loves me was there, but didn't stick around for my set (I wasn't feeling the love!). There were only a handful of audience members, but we had a great time making each other laugh.

Showcased at Luna's Cafe in Sacramento, where I had a tuna melt and many beers for dinner. Bob Brindley, Sean Heatherington, Malcolm Grissom and Tim O'Dell were there, among others, and Jimi (my official stalker) helped round out the crowd. Jimi and I spent the night at a cute little hotel near the cafe, and were supposed to meet our old work colleague Nancy G. for breakfast, but Nancy got into a fender bender on the way to meet us! This statement should in no way be construed as an admission of guilt, but I feel really bad about that!
