What's for Dinner?

Fun Stuff

California's Funniest Female competition in Huntington Beach, CA. I had some bruschetta (a Martini Blues house specialty) but had a larger meal of clam chowder and hot wings earlier. Erikka Innes was in my group of competitors, so we had a chance to hang out a little bit during the show and after. Erikka cracks me up. I'm old enough to be her mom, but we both seem to become silly school girls when we get together. I had a great set and was proud to move forward to the quarter finals. Especially since I was up against some real tough competition. I expect to get knocked out in the next round. Not that I have a low self-esteem or anything (I mean, have you even seen my Web site?) but it's a tough competition.

There's a new little room on the Stanford Campus. Iwas there Week Two, and the "crowd" was basically three people. But those three came for a show, and we gave it to them. I had "leftover" vegetarian stew that James was kind enough to donate to me. The other performers were Mark Nadeau and Norm Goldblatt. Edo came out to support. Mark is his favorite comedian. I think he likes Mark more than he likes me.

Another great Women Who Kick Comedy Butt show. This time at the Mira Sunday Comics in Vallejo. Before the gig a few of us met with Grace White for her Scrappy Booking Seminar. Grace is smart. We met at a Denny's. I had a veggie burger for dinner. Sandy Stecarooney and a made the trek together and we had a blast chatting to and fro. This time the green room didn't seem so scary, because now it was filled with women -- all of them talented and gorgeous. I sold magnets in the lobby at intermission, and met a bunch of great folks. Including the guy who used to live with bootleggers. And I don't think he meant folks who tape concerts on the sly.

I love performing at 50 Mason. There's always such an interesting crowd and vibe there. I had the rest of my burrito from lunch time for my dinner, and some candy that I got on my way. I was craving chocolate, which doesn't usually happen. But I had to have me some Watchamacallit. I call it delicious.

We had a last minute cancellation and I had a chance to host one of the Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition semi-final rounds. It was a great show; everyone was a winner. The people who advanced might have been more obvious winners, though. I ran across to Baja Fresh for some fish tacos before the show started. Fish tacos are so good. I can't wait until my next trip down to the San Diego area. There's some crazy good fish tacos down there!

The Mock Cafe. What a neat space. There are columns that break up the room, and most of the audience is on a different side of them than you are! No microphone. Just comedy the way it was meant to be: in front of twelve people in the Mission District late on a Saturday, with a baby sleeping in the back. Baby Wynter Sirof is amazingly cute and sweet. Wonder how long it will be until she starts telling dirty jokes, just like mom and dad? I had some lamb stew made with the Easter Lamb for dinner before heading into the city. I make a mean lamb stew. And lambs are supposed to be peaceful!

Same bat time, same bat Improv. Once again, chicken tenders. I guess they have other things on their menu, but I never bothered to look. This time Anthony Hill was the emcee. If it weren't for me and Bob Brindley, he'd still be at Cuppa' Tea doing senior citizen robot material. Anthony's awesome. I had a great set, but didn't finish as big as I'd like to, which was a shame since I think the manager was watching my set.

More dinners . . .
